On February 4 at 5:00 pm, join the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights for a book reception celebrating the release of our Director Michael Posner’s book: Conscience Incorporated: Pursue Profits While Protecting Human Rights.

About the Book:

Michael Posner, director of the Center for Business and Human Rights at NYU Stern School of Business, will publish a new book via NYU Press that provides a blueprint for global business leaders to navigate human rights challenges and adopt sustainable corporate practices.

Amid growing international concerns about income inequality, labor abuses, racial and gender disparities and disinformation online, “Conscience Incorporated: Pursue Profits While Protecting Human Rights” examines current gaps and what companies and governments need to do to address these challenges.

Anchoring this book are examples of companies with whom Posner has addressed these issues — Nike, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Walmart, Meta, and more. He provides a blueprint for global business leaders to navigate human rights challenges and adopt sustainable corporate practices. The book highlights the need for increased protections for outsourced workers in global supply chains, greater attention to harmful online content, and attention to human rights concerns by investors.

As Hillary Rodham Clinton writes in the book’s preface, “Conscious Incorporated” is “…a book that every CEO, every sustainability advocate, every MBA student, and every person who wants to advance human rights in a global economy should be reading.”

Posner argues that companies cannot be expected to address these issues alone. He examines recent efforts, especially by European governments to regulate global business practices in various industries.
