Conduct Research

With our Center, students don't just learn in a classroom, they serve as consultants on real-world business and human rights challenges.

Become a research assistant

Our busy team is regularly in need of assistance. We seek students who have a passion for social change and rigorous analytic skills. We offer paid, hands-on opportunities to currently enrolled NYU students, with priority given to Stern.

Past research assistants have helped us to conduct research and manage projects in all of our issue areas. During the course of their work, students have visited garment factories, interviewed experts and companies on human rights, and published their findings in blogs, magazines and newspapers.

If you are interested in a research assistant placement, contact us at bhr@stern.nyu.edu.

Join us on a Stern Signature Project

Stern Signature Projects (SSP) pair student teams with research centers to address some of the most pressing global issues of the 21st century. Structured as semester long academic independent studies, these opportunities allow students to customize their MBA experience by driving thought leadership across an array of global and interdisciplinary questions.

Together with the Office of Student Engagement, our Center has worked with students on SSPs related to identifying the total size of the garment industry in Bangladesh, developing better human rights performance metrics for investors, crafting a business plan for a sustainable fashion supplier in Kenya, and examining the true cost of fair migrant recruitment practices in the construction industry in Qatar.

Our projects may not run every semester. Check with the Office of Student Engagement and watch this page for more details as projects emerge.

The Center has really had an impact on my career. I plan to spend my entire career studying the impact of human rights on supply chains.
