NEW YORK – Following today’s announcement that President Obama has put his full support behind maintaining an open and equal Internet, Katharine Kendrick, a policy associate at the New York University Stern Center for Business and Human Rights and expert on Internet freedom policy, released the following statement:

“President Obama’s message about ensuring an open, interconnected Internet is the right one. The United States remains the global leader in information and communication technology, and maintaining that position will require leadership from the administration on net neutrality, as well as restoring confidence in the protection of personal privacy online. American companies also need rules of the road for the important role they play in protecting sensitive user data.”
