About
July 10, 2018
The Center’s mission is to challenge and empower companies and future business leaders to make practical progress on human rights.
Our mission is both educational and practical. We aim to equip business leaders with essential knowledge about human rights through our course offerings at Stern, research, and our textbook. We also have an advocacy agenda. We look to create real change in human rights conditions through project-based work across business sectors. We use what we learn in these projects to advocate for broader change.
About the Center
The NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights is located at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. Michael Posner co-founded the Center in 2013 and serves as the Director. The Center offers classes, conducts research, and carries out projects on current business and human rights challenges.
The Center maintains a full-time staff in New York. It is located within the Business & Society Program, headed by Professor Bruce Buchanan. Funding for the Center is provided by NYU Stern, foundations, and individual donors. The Center’s Advisory Council meets annually and provides strategic guidance to its activities.
