The Center’s mission is to challenge and empower companies and future business leaders to make practical progress on human rights.

Our mission is both educational and practical. We aim to equip business leaders with essential knowledge about human rights through our course offerings at Stern, research, and our textbook. We also have an advocacy agenda. We look to create real change in human rights conditions through project-based work across business sectors. We use what we learn in these projects to advocate for broader change.

At NYU Stern, we develop people and ideas that transform the challenges of the 21st century into opportunities to create value for business and society. Our Center for Business and Human Rights is the embodiment of that mission and demonstrates that profit and principle can co-exist.
