Lucy Siers
Lucy Siers is a Senior Research Scientist with the Center’s Global Labor program. Her research focuses on labor rights in global supply chains, with particular attention to the intersection of climate change, worker protection, and supply chain resilience. Her recent work examines the impacts of extreme heat on workers and manufacturing operations in the garment industry, and how global companies can better address heat risk through sourcing, procurement, and responsible purchasing practices. Previously at the Center, Lucy focused on protections for migrant workers. Before joining the Center, Lucy worked as a research consultant at Verité, a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on labor rights in global supply chains. She holds an LL.B. and an MSc in Migration Studies from the University of Bristol, UK, where her research focused on legal protections for seasonal labor migration to the UK following Brexit. Too Hot to Ignore: Extreme Heat in Garment Supply Chains
Extreme heat is already disrupting garment factories across South and Southeast Asia, and in a new report drawing on field research across India, we find that most global brands have failed to act, pointing to a need for shared responsibility that treats climate adaptation as a core business obligation.
